Synopsis
In northern Burkina Faso, where the Sahara desert begins, 13,000 people who lived off the artisanal gold mining had to sell their land to the country’s biggest gold mine operated by IAMGOLD, a Canadian company. In compensation, they received new land, houses, and promises of a job and prosperity. Yet, the displaced community is unhappy: they watch as their wealth is flowing abroad.
