The Millenium Festival invites you to a special cinematic evening where poetry and cinema intersect. Through the film Dernières nouvelles du cosmos by Julie Bertuccelli, discover Babouillec, an autistic poet who redefines the boundaries of communication and reveals the depths of our subconscious.

This screening, part of the Semaine des Handicaps (Disability Week) of the City of Brussels, will be followed by a reading of a poem by Babouillec by Antoine Waucquez, a student from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

SYNOPSIS

Babouillec, an autistic poet deprived of speech, challenges our certainties about language and thought through her powerful and visionary texts imbued with corrosive humor. Her deep discussions and the theatrical adaptation of her writings reveal her extraordinary creativity and fascinating universe.

PROGRAMME

7:00 PM – Screening of Dernières nouvelles du cosmos by Julie Bertuccelli.

8:25 PM – Reading of a poem by Babouillec by Antoine Waucquez, followed by a discussion on the works of the author.

BIOGRAPHY

Julie Bertuccelli, born in 1968, started as an assistant to renowned directors before making her own award-winning films. Her first feature film, Depuis qu’Otar est parti…, won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Critics’ Week in 2003 and a César Award. La Cour de Babel (2014), nominated for the César Awards, won Best Documentary at the Trophées francophones. Her latest film, La Dernière folie de Claire Darling (2019), stars Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni. She is currently the president of the Documentary Cinematheque.
