Nothing is easy when you return home. After having tried the adventure to Europe, a Cameroonian ex-footballer finds in traditional medicine and small jobs a way to preserve his freedom and to quench his thirst for discovery.
A painter friend goes to meet him for a filmed portrait. Through whatsapp exchanges between Brussels and Yaoundé and a dreamlike dive into nature, the film takes us on a journey, connecting painting and magic into the world of those who fight against the witchy influence among the Bassas of Cameroon.
Director's Biography
Nicolas Van Kerckhove is a painter, trained at ESA on 75 and at ENSAV La Cambre, in Brussels, his painting is figurative and dreamlike with always an attention to reality.
He has made many forays into the world of cinema as a decorator, but it is after extensive travels in West Africa, the Maghreb and the Middle East, that the desire naturally came to turn to the cinema to make a popular word sometimes little valued, while putting his eye as a painter to the service of the frame.
