Ken Loach to be the Guest of Honour at our 17th Edition

Ken Loach, legendary British filmmaker and two-time Palme d’Or winner at Cannes (2006 for The Wind That Shakes the Barley and 2016 for I, Daniel Blake), will be the guest of honor at the 17th edition of the Millenium Festival. Known for his social and political commitment, Loach has successfully combined realistic cinema with activism, tackling powerful themes such as social injustice, economic inequality, workers’ rights, and poverty. His films, often carrying strong messages, depict class struggle and denounce the excesses of contemporary society, such as austerity and the living conditions of the most disadvantaged. A true voice for the voiceless, he has influenced generations of cinephiles and continues to inspire with his ability to blend art and activism.

Unfortunately, Ken Loach recently suffered an accident, preventing him from attending the festival in person. However, his passion for cinema and his desire to share his knowledge remain undiminished. He will record a special masterclass so that the Millenium Festival audience can still benefit from his expertise and unique vision of cinema.

A complete panorama of his films will also be organized in partnership with the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique.
