Don’t miss the opportunity to dive into the intensity and beauty of a revolution driven by the courageous voices of Sudanese youth. The documentary film Sudan, Remember Us traces the birth of an emotional struggle against authoritarianism, led by young activists standing up to an oppressive regime. In 2019, after twenty years of dictatorship, Sudanese president Omar Al Bashir was overthrown in a coup. French director Hind Meddab traveled to Khartoum to capture the euphoric moment of victory. However, this joy would be short-lived, as these revolutionaries found themselves plunged into the darkness of a devastating civil war.
To enrich this unique experience, the film will be followed by an exciting discussion with the director Hind Meddab, Sudanese author Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin, and young Sudanese Elfatih Siddig, currently seeking asylum. The author, known for his sharp critique of Al Bashir’s dictatorship and militarism, will share his experience. Despite international success, he faced censorship in his home country until 2019 and was awarded the prestigious Arabic Literature Prize in 2020.
Come and discover a powerful and committed film, and take part in an evening of reflection and sharing with those who lived and told this revolution. A unique cinematic and literary experience that will leave a lasting impact.
