Synopsis
Marzia My Friend is the story of an Afghan woman in her twenties. Just like all young people, she dreams of love, freedom and an interesting job, of peace and independence. Yet, because she lives in Afghanistan, her dreams are far from the norm. Ultimately Marzia’s story becomes a symbol for the wider struggle of Afghan women: concerning the right to make decisions in regards to their own lives. The film is also the story of a beautiful friendship between women, the Finnish journalist and the Afghan girls who follow Marzia’s life from Spring 2011 in Afghanistan.
