Synopsis
The story of a house in West Jerusalem forsaken by its owner, a Palestinian doctor, during the war of 1948. Requisitioned by the government in virtue of a law on “abandoned property”, it was rented to a Jewish Algerian couple in 1956 before being purchased by an Israeli university professor determined to renovate it… Former residents, builders, the new owner and the neighbours of always succeed each other on the construction site. Each of their tales corresponds to a different stage in the history of this house that really is a metaphor for the Israeli identity and its contradictions.
