Marzia, My Friend received the Millenium Festival's "Young Vision" award in 2016.

Marzia My Friend is the story of an Afghan woman in her twenties. Just like all young people, she dreams of love, freedom and an interesting job, of peace and independence. Yet, because she lives in Afghanistan, her dreams are far from the norm. Ultimately, Marzia's story becomes a symbol for the wider struggle of Afghan women concerning the right to make decisions in regards to their own lives. The film is also the story of a beautiful friendship between women, the Finnish journalist and the Afghan girls who follow Marzia's life from Spring 2011 in Afghanistan.

The Documentary will be followed by a short report, including several interviews on the theme of the female condition. With :

  • Kirsi Mattila – the filmmaker
  • Marzia – the protagonist
  • Livia Tinca – Millenium Festival programmer

In the following months, the Millenium Festival and La Trois will broadcast 3 more documentaries on the channel. Each documentary will be accompanied by a short report on its subject.
